I use these in off-roading and boating and they really work as they claim.
With the rain and sandstorms fuel gets contaminated easy.

I buy them from Northern tool Supply and give them as gifts, but I think you can find them on E Bay, Amazon and a few other places as well.

They offer a small one to keep on board the boat. They need no replacement parts or filter changed.

Q: All the demos are with gasoline. Any info on Diesel, since it's thicker then gasoline.

I found they work great. But if you had first added anything to the fuel to help with water in the fuel it will allow the fuel and water to mix and flow right through. I had water in my outboard tank and mixed in a fuel additive gave it a shake and pored it through the filter and it did not stop anything but some tank crud. I then pored a cup of water into some 100% gas and then pored it through the filter and it did indeed stop the water. Worked fantasticly. But I feel caution with additives that could cause problems. IMOHO

I was wondering about the "if I added additives" but that was covered by the FAQ in Gord's post.

Looks promising to me, especially for the gas for my outboard that always causes problems.

Wonder if ethanol has any effects?

I dropped my small gas can in the water the other day. That became a chance to really see if my Mr Funnel would separate the water. It did pretty much and I bet if I did a couple of cycles it would have gotten it all (I still was never going to put that gas in my outboard).

And that makes them somewhat invalid, since most gas is e10. This from Mr. Funnel's site:

A. Most additives absorb water so add them to your fuel tank and not to your fuel cans or they will bring water into the tank with them.


In addition to absorbed water, e10 tends to emulsify the water so well that it does not separate well (the gravity difference is slight and the surface tension is low, because the water layer is actually mostly ethanol, not water).

They are great, I've had one aboard for decades. On the West Coast they are referred to as "baja filters".

Baja Filter is a brand name for something functionally a bit different, based on fine screen, not a hydrophobic membrane.
