Thanks everyone, from (perhaps a bit less than) a newbie

Hi:

I have been hanging out here for the last year and a bit, having caught the sailing bug after a bout of staring out the hospital window onto the Bay of Quinte after medical problems. A WTF moment that lead me to want to go sailing and ultimately here.

I try very hard to not waste people's time by asking the same old questions, so mostly spend my time in the archives. When I do pop out with a question, it never amazes me the time and effort people will give to steer me in the right direction. I even occasionally contact directly a member with same effect. The generosity of complete strangers is unbelievable.

In the past year and a half, I have gone from hospital bed to a sailing library some 2 1/2 lineal feet, hundreds if not thousands of hours reading, Bay of Quinte Yacht Club membership, the YCA Basic Cruiser's live aboard coarse, walking more than a few piers with more than a few brokers, and finally the purchase of an Ontario 32. Next season , I might (Don't tell my wife I said might, she'll have my spherical anatomical parts ...) even get on the water if I get enough fixed to make the boat seaworthy.

So thank you all those who have donated their time and knowledge to our passion, both to me and all the other new sailors that wander this way. Cruiser's Forum is first class. I've tries other forums, but keep finding myself back here after temporarily straying.

All the best to everyone.

Cheers,

Boulter

Hi Boulter
Don't be afraid to ask questions. That is what the forum is for.
You will always get an answer. Sometimes it will even be the right answer
Lots of people and the forum is still a great resource.
There are no dumb questions, only occasionally dumb answers.

I hope your health is now better and all your spherical anatomical parts are intact

Way to go...you did it right in buying the boat after exhaustive research and I will also say you did it right here too by using the search feature and not asking redundant questions. I'm always amazed how much information is stored here on any particular topic. Only on occasion have I had to resurrect an old thread to find an answer.
I wish you and your wife all the best.

If it floats, it is seaworthy - for some seas .
Just make it seaworthy enough for you (and your seas).

Of course that may be over the top for some and not good enough for others but it's your voyage and enjoy the time aboard as you see fit - especially if you are on the water as well as just being aboard .

Good luck with your health and best wishes for your floating life.

Good luck dude. Never worry about asking a stupid question, I will always ask one just a little dumber.

Medical problems have a way of getting your attention.

Getting out and sailing on the water has a way of making you forget about your medical challenges.

I always feel better when I am out on the water or in the wilderness. It breaks the cycle of thoughts that are associated with our illnesses.

Sailing is great medicine.
