When I was thinking of moving to Australia to live in my early 20s, my ex wife said...

"Australia? There is only two thing I dont like about Australia, The country and the people....oh and Vegemite."

It is amusing in its own way....... I hate vegemite too..

I have been in gatherings in Sydney and Adelaide where locals SERIOUSLY argued over the Vegemite/Marmite issue....
One guy was aske to leave over the abuse he was giving my Brit colleague over Marmite....

She let go her glass with a shrill little cry,
Crash! Tinkle! it fell to the floor;
When he asked, "What in Heaven?" She made no reply,
Up her mind, and a dash for the door.

Rang out down the hall loud and clear
With a tremulous cry that was filled with despair,
As she paused to take breath in the cool midnight air,

The words seemed to ring in her ear.
Until the next morning, she woke up in bed
With a smile on her lips and an ache in her head...
And a beard on her earlobe that tickled and said:
