Wow, looks bad! In dutch we call this a 'kanaalrat'. Free translation to English is a Channelrat. No time to be anywhere near the channel. Glad we are out there already.

Yep not nice at the moment but the best is yet to come . Forecast for 10 -12m waves in the western approaches ! Wouldn't like to be off the Channel isles on an ebb tide !

Trip down to the boat tomorrow I think to put the extra lines on even though we are quite sheltered.

Re: Storm sweeping through Southern Uk, Northern France this sunday/monday

I intended to go coastal cruising for a week in the bay of Biscay, beginning tomorrow... In fact, the Met Office shipping forecast is not about a storm but *just* a strong gale!

My cruise is postponed to Tuesday at the earliest. Then, the weather is expected to improve and the sea to abate.

Re: Storm sweeping through Southern Uk, Northern France this sunday/monday

We are in Eastbourne (Sovereign Harbour Marina) surrounded by tall buildings and protected from the SW by Beachy Head. We have removed all loose fittings from the deck and are now secured by six lines to the jetty ( two by chain). Force 11 forecast tomorrow night. The wind is currently SW f8-9 but expected to get worst. At least it's dry!
Life living on a boat is never dull.

Don't believe thius net for windspeed. The sensor is between two blocks of flats.

We are in Eastbourne Marina. Currently raining hard ans gusting 16 - 20 Kts in the shelter of the flats. The worst should hit us after midnight to 0400h. According to the internet the channel islands currently have 86 mph winds
