Question Standing Rigging question

I purchased a 1986 Catalina 34 and had the standing rigging replaced. The boat now "leans" to Port about 10 degrees (a guess), yet you can easily see the lean when looking at the boat from the dock.

Why would this happen and is it from the new standing rigging?

Thanks newer sailor here...

Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I enjoy how helpful most are on this site.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Standing Rigging question

The boat leans or the mast leans?

Re: Standing Rigging question

Routine standing rigging replacement would not result is a list to port. You will have to check other sources of a list such as tanks or stowage on the port side. For instance a 60 gallon water tank which is full on the port side and a fuel tank or a corresponding water tank on the starboard side which is empty.

Re: Standing Rigging question

the entire boat "lists" (if that is the correct word) about 5-10 degrees. Not much but it does lean. just not sure if something is wrong.

Standing Rigging question

Assuming nothing else changed other than the rigging, have a rigger look at the boat and make sure that every was done correctly. While it seems a stretch, if it was something caused by the new rigging, I would have them confirm the rigging on the mast was tensioned correctly and the rigging is correctly sized. Perhaps talk to a different rigger then the one who did initial the work if you have concerns.
