Hello everyone. I currently have a Standard Horizon GX2150
vhf radio with
AIS receiving ability. I have been very satisfied with this unit but would like to get
AIS transmission as well. I have looked at the Vesper Watchmate XB 6000. This is an AIS
transmission unit. I now see the
Simrad RS40-B
vhf radio that sends and receives AIS. Standard Horizon was to have a similar unit the GX6500 but they don't seem able to get approval from the FCC. Does anyone have experience with how well the
Simrad RS40-B performs. It would be nice not to have to add a splitter or second
antenna.
