Shilo2

Have been having good steering problems, very difficult to turn helm, could not find any solutions online.
Very unusual situation.
I bypassed cylinder and concluded that the cylinder was the problem.
Removed and put it in a vice, disassembled or tried, could not remove the piston, jammed tight.
Used hydraulic press to removed piston from housing.
The problem was not that O'rings had expanded against housing but the teflon on which the rubber cup seals are installed.
That Teflon had expanded against the housing causing the problem.
Had to put in a lathe and shave of maybe 1000 of an inch or so until it would fit back into the cylinder.
Could do it by hand if no lathe, use sand paper.
My friend had the same problem,he did not order O'ring kit, just removed shaved the Teflon and reassembledid.
It is a Seastar cylinder.
