"Severed Ways," a film directed by Tony Stone in 2007, depicts the Norse discovery of the New World. Two Viking scouts in Thorfinn Karlsefni's landing party are left for dead as their shipmates are slaughtered by Skraelings (natives) in battle. The plot centers on their journey to connect overland with Leif's Erickson's party to the North. The film is shot in a "naturalistic" genre where its outstanding cinematography, limited dialogue in
English subtitles and straightforward plot give the viewer a glimpse back into this historic time. And since the dialogue is limited, it allows the viewer to directly participate in the experience with his/her own imagination and further enhances it for those who have read Viking
history. For those intereted in the Viking Era and the discovery of the New World, this is a valued contribution. It is available online through several vendors.
