Senior cruiser? Stars?

What is a senior Cruiser?
What do the stars below contributor's name signify?

Re: Senior cruiser? Stars?

I'm not a moderator so here's my info which you may feel free to question -

the stars are in direct relation to the number of posts a person has made, it does not attest to anything other than pure #s. On a persons profile page there are green boxes (I believe on the upper right of the page) that reflect how "helpful" this poster is - driven by number of Thank You messages they have received.

as to the "titles" (senior cruiser, etc) I registered so long ago I may not have this right, but I think when you register you may be able to choose some of them, i.e.: "senior cruiser", but not choose others (CF Advisor, Moderator).

All of the above could be completely wrong - just the way I remember it.

Cheers.

I think that only "Supporting Members" can change their "title".
Otherwise, the title is based, like the stars, on the number of posts.

"Senior Cruiser" title used to come when you'd made a certain number of posts. I think that changed with the advent of membership donation widget.

The number of stars is related to number of posts.
1-10 posts
2-50
3-100
4-400 or 500
5-1000

The number of squares is related to number "Thanks" received. I believe that counts for squares are same as stars.

There is something going on with the color of the squares changing to. Maybe at 5000 thanks. Don't know. GordMay may know.

Re: Senior cruiser? Stars?

I actually joined about 2001 I think. I remember some kind of change which did a reset and now I'm at 2008. And I only just now noticed that I am no longer a Senior Cruiser or a Helpful Contributor... I think it was.

The wars here have turned me into somewhat of a curmudgeon, which I would accept as a badge of honor because I survived those wars.

Are these titles really attached to donations? The curmudgeon in me wants to know.

Re: Senior cruiser? Stars?

So the automatic title change went away I believe when we started having supporting members.

I believe that if you are a supporting member you can change your title except in certain instances such as being a MarineServicesProvider or a SupportingVendor, the site takes transparency for members with a commercial agenda very seriously, we work very hard to root out sockpuppets who would flog commercial services which disclaiming any affiliation. Also moderators can't change their titles.

The earliest you could have joined was 2003 when Geisel(sp?) started CF.

2008 was before I joined so I have no info on how you might have lost your early history.

Re: Senior cruiser? Stars?

OK, 2003. Trying to remember where I was when.

I can just change my profile to read "curmudgeon". That's good enough for me.
