Our sail boat is Canadian registered and in talking to a US broker we find there are some complications of selling a non US registered boat in the US, through a US broker. We are aware of the tax issues but there appears to be a fee of some kind to list with US broker. Anyone heard of this or have a website I could visit to get answers on this question?
Thanks
Bill, you don't mention where your boat is located but if on the East Coast try Rogue Wave and see what they have to say. I have seen Canadian registered boats listed on their site.
Never heard of having to pay a fee to a US broker to list a Canadian boat. If your boat is in the US on a cruising permit it cannot be listed for sale in the US if tariffs and duties have not been paid. That's why you see the note "not for sale in the US" in lots of ads in US sailing mags. It's just to get around having to pay duty before the sale.
