Sale of 'Latitudes and Attitudes' Magazine

Just announced at the St. Pete Boat Show that Bob Bitchin sold Latitudes and Attitudes Magazine!!! He will still be at the boat shows but a group of 4 sailors from SFO will be running the business...
Sounds like they have some BIG plans for the future...

Re: Sale of Latitudes and Attitudes Magazine

We saw and visited with Bob at the Boat Show yesterday afternoon. He's as happy and cheerful as ever, but he's not getting any younger (nor am I) and having someone else take over the day-today grind sounds reasonable for him. I hope it works out well for he and his wife.

I wonder, is going cruising again? Is his new boat still in the Shannon yard?

His new boat, the Bitchin Global 52, has been for sale for some time. Look in any issue of the mag. I believe Jodie was diagnosed with a serious illness a few years back, and their cruising plans have been on the back burner. Anyone know if Lost Soul ever sold or if she has come down in price?

Here she is. Came way down in price, was listed at 450k for years. Quite a steal for someone.

As long as they keep up with the hot women on the front cover, i'll keep buying it regularly.

That's a shame for the readers. I hope he retains some kind of editorial influence. I've really enjoyed the iconoclastic nature of the magazine over the years.

Thanks Bob!

Am I the only person who doesn't like that magazine? Not knocking the people behind it by any means, but in general I always roll my eyes a bit at the "scantily clad woman on the bowsprit" shots.

I guess there are a lot of different types of people out there. Just had no idea it was *that* popular.

No, you're not alone. I haven't picked up a copy in years, but the last time I did, the atrocious grammar gave me heartburn.

Nope, not just you. I haven't purchased one in a couple of years. I read (generally) for knowledge and the magazine just never seemed to have substance. Same with their (failed?) television show. It was more about "look how much fun we are having with your money" and less about how to cruise.

agree. The magazine always had a "slapped together" feel both in layout and line editing. The TV show even more so.

Actually, I agree with you. The humour was tired, the grammar not quite Strunk & White, and the bikinis were there to gloss that over. But I've a certain fondness for a slightly tattered yachting magazine. It's a humorous alternative to the mainstream publications. Of which there are plenty.

A bit like a blog, I suppose.

No doubt. I get that. How does "Fragrant Harbour" look these days?
