Sailing South For Hurricane Season

Hi,

We’re based in the Turks & Caicos islands at the moment.

We have plans to leave the TCI August 1st - weather permitting.

Does anyone have any information or experience sailing to the Mona Passage (Between DR & Puerto Rico) and then South to the ABC islands?

Or

Sailing through the Windward Passage (Between Haiti & Cuba) then along the South coast of the Haiti & the DR. Then off to the ABC islands?

Thoughts, suggestions, dangers, the most comfortable sail etc?
