However, many local communities do not want naked people running around. If you are in an island where people are very religious, you should not sail naked, nor swim naked.
I would not be surprised if cruisers anchored in say Antigua looked down on any boat sailing in with her crew anude. It is simply NOT their culture. Cross to Guadeloupe and it is 100 % OK to swim naked (sure thing - not when you are anchored 100 yards from a city beach).
There is a place and time for everything. Walking naked where people normally do not is simply showing them your disrespect. DO NOT.

Well said. I like to visit new places and meet people in their culture because of the difference's, not bring mine and force it on them.

We sail naked and visit clothing optional beaches whenever we can. It is a very free feeling and as a practical reason saves a ton on laundry or dealing with wet clothes.

BTW I am stark white ;-) so to me naked is just short moments in the tropics. Maybe a swim in the morning, maybe another one in the afternoon.

Get a two other couples together and charter a crewed Cat in the Carib. You will have the time of your life. Go to Willy T's to see naked people. They are normally clothed everywhere else.
Funny post.

I 100% agree, in Bequia where we spend a lot of time people dress modestly even if they do joke outrageously. Some cruisers( mostly from the eastern block) in string bikinis and banana hammocks really get their backs up .
Once many many years ago I Decided to sail naked one day that lasted about 2 hours.

Being naked has its uses.
If somebody is about to anchor too close to you, send the male crew up on deck naked.
If you want close company, send up the female crew naked.

Isn't Willy T's that floating bar thing that people dive off the top of?

Boat: So many boats to choose from. Would prefer something that is not an AWB, and that is beachable...

Re: Sailing Naked - My first time aboard a sailboat.
Who care what people wear or do not wear for that matter in the privacy of their homes. Public has different standards and different countries and regions / cultures have different standards about what is appropriate or indecent.
I am sure the standards are different on the French Riviera from what they are in Georgia USA.
We're see clash of cultural standards in France related to Islamic dress.
I suppose the rule should be when in Rome do as the Romans do... and certainly don't go to Rome and offend them!
Your pretty exposed on a boat in an anchorage as opposed to sailing out there. No?

Tell that to the nudists of San Francisco, who sued the city to block a simple law requiring them to put a towel under their buttocks on public transit ... and won!
