I think they are as broke as paupers, but hardcore sailors, boat repairers and fine makers of seafood dishes. Its a tiny channel, 7600 subscribers and they do not post a video every week, but I watch whatever they post. They show what can be done with very little money and determination.

Thanks for mentioning this channel and the link. I had not seen that YT channel before. Took a quick look, and was immediately impressed. Subscribed to see more.
I particularly like how the young woman has participated in the refit projects. Lucky guy to have her as partner/mate.
Frankly speaking, I admire women like that, more than the ones that Sailing Doodles has on his boat as eye candy.

These are two completely different dynamics. Doodles is T & A show, on the water. And, they have over 100K subscribers. Proving once again, sex sells.

Absolutely true. Boobie pimping his boob-ettes
BTW, I refuse to click on his channel since his BS scam to buy a new boat.

Re: Sailing Doodles fire
I wanted to thank people for posting the interesting information on this thread. I was a fan of Sailing Doodles from the 1st season and I think what's happened to it is sad. It started out in a very heartfelt way. Over the years it became cheesier and cheesier. Now it's basically Hooters on a motorboat. It's no longer a show I can learn about sailing from. The taste level is so disappointing. If I knew it as only a cheesy show I wouldn't care, but felt it had greater potential. I kind of look at it now as a warning. I do not want to turn into that guy!
I disagree that he had to take that route to be more successful. Great filmmakers use sex appeal as an ingredient, not as the be-all end-all. It works to a point but after that your audience is going to be limited to thirsty guys. I want a sailing show that I can share with my girlfriend, so she gets excited about sailing also.
Right now I like watching Sam Holmes sailing because he keeps it real and has an interesting story. The women in his life don't need to twerk for the camera. He has a totally different mindset compared to Sailing Doodles. I have a feeling that shows like SD will flame out and the more skills focused shows will endure.

Good for her. I think Delos is a more tasteful show. The family story gives it broader appeal (also reflected in their higher number of subscribers).

In many of the shows running for some while like La Vagabonde, Delos, the Wynns, the performers get worn out and tired. Just for fun check a video of 10 years earlier and a current one. In most cases the energy is pretty much gone and they crew looks more and more harried.
There are really good and interesting channels about sailing with kids out there, but the T&A switching to sailing with a baby usually fail pretty badly at it. No or only second rate T&A left but uninspired parenting added. Yes, their own children are their life, just as mine are to me, but that doesn't make it interesting for anyone except the grandparents.
Although they never were a bikini-channel in the first place RAN sailing seems to stay interesting even with the baby on board. I still enjoy their videos and they have a chance to become a good sailing with children channel. Delos and La Vagabonde failed totally at this transition.

Re: Sailing Doodles fire
Just heard of a new sailing YouTube channel soon to begin.
Kruisin with the Kardashians
On a Superyacht with a glass bottomed swiming pool no less.
Bound to be educational

As long as it isn't "Kardashians Kome Kruising" with stylish pointy white sun-protection.

Re: Sailing Doodles fire
Let's be frank here, for Bobby (as a guy) - it's probably a welcome change of scenery - from cramped sailboat to a spacious power boat loaded with young voluptuous women showing off their skin and making him good money. Good for him on that part.
But I totally agree that as far as it relates to sailing, learning something new or getting some sort of decent story, interesting narrative, etc - it is completely unwatchable and there is really no reason to visit his channel any more.
The whole theme and nature of all these supposedly sailing channels that lean heavily on click-bait pictures and skin has pushed out a lot of the quality content and accelerated the race to the bottom. Yes, there are good ones still out there (like Erik Aanderaa , etc), but they will have harder time getting the views they really deserve.
