If we do leave it up, or with the previous AB dinghy, we always remove the engine, put a cover on it, and add wrap around webbing straps that secure it to the davits and frame.

For predominantly downwind trade wind passages a dinghy in davits is no problem. But for any mid/upper latitudes passage, especially out of season (hey SLV), leaving a dinghy on davits, especially with a motor, is adding a big risk.

How many people know what the weight rating of their davits is?
All excellent points

Re: Sailing Doodles fire

I'm pretty sure when he got the new dinghy, he said he was planning on reinforcing the davits because he basically doubled the weight of his dinghy setup. Then in a later episode, I think he said that he decided not to, for no really good reason.

Correct, as an engineer and licensed aircraft mechanic/pilot, meeting standards and specs are key for performance. “The angle of the dangle is key”

That's not the payperview video, that's the video he posted advertising it.

Yea, it looks like he marked the video as Private now. It used to be just an unlisted video.

This is not the PPV video.

The link is on his website. Its a 35 minute video/fiasco. As far as I know the only link to the video is through his website. He now as a 52? Hatteras power boat. Now all he needs is your money and click bait/boobs. Ahem, Sorry your money and crew.

His biggest mistake was being unprepared, not checking weather and doing a single handed sail through a shipping channel. The insurance was the least of it.

Then he bad mouthed his insurance company for something that was HIS fault and then begged for money from people to "fix his boat". He lied. No plans to fix it.

He asked for money....to FIX his boat. Then at the end of the video you pay for he says he's not going to fix the boat.

It might be true that he might not be 'handy', but anyone who owns a boat damn well should be handy or have a very good cash flow. Since his 'cash flow' is effectively stopped, he should be working to reestablish that flow by FIXING THE BOAT.
Instead he wants YOU to pay him $$$ to bail him out.
Every way I look at it, he is a lazy bum.
I don't like anything he did. Ever hung out in the caribbean before. It's kind of hot and they're not scantily clad for where they are. I don't get why people harp on that.
