I'm an international airline pilot and I was flying south of the Kamchatka Peninsula at night. On a clear night I was able to observe the Russian
fishing fleet to the north of me and south of the peninsula. The fleet of ships that I saw were all displaying bright red lights. I'm used to seeing
fishing boats at night at
anchor and typically they all display the standard white lights. Does anyone know why the Russian fleet would display different
lighting?
