Re: Routings Mexico to BC

The Don Douglas and Reanne Hemingway-Douglas guide, Exploring the Pacific Coast - San Diego to Seattle, gives well laid out schedule and alternatives for going north and south along the U.S. coast. I used this book for planning the south going trip, we went all the way to Panama, much farther that this guide goes, but gives good advice for the parts it does cover. All the Douglas guides are very good and reliable.

Re: Routings Mexico to BC

I have made the ‘bash’ from Cabo San Lucas to San Diego five times, most recently last month. Some of those trips weren’t too bad and a couple were awful.

We’re considering taking our boat up to the Pacific Northwest, perhaps next year or the year after and our route will be San Diego/Hawaii/Sitka. We’ve done that before.

Fair winds and calm seas.

Great account and well written. I enjoyed reading about our adventures very much, having been into all these ports myself. And yes indeed, LaPush is quite an experience. It is not clear to me why it is termed a "harbor of refuge"? Going in there on a fairly calm afternoon is exciting enough. I can't imagine trying to make port there in a full gale.
