pvc folding door

Hello, I was on a Hunter yacht some weeks ago on Lake Ullswater, only as a guest for a look round the yacht and a cuppa. The yacht was a about 26 ft long ,I don`t know the exact model, but I noticed the toilet door was a canvas backed concertina type. I would like to make a similar door for my boat, which is a small motor cruiser. At present I have a wooden door that swings into the gangway. The door on the Hunter yacht seemed to be 5inch slats covered both sides with canvas and stiched in between. I have sewing machines that will do the job, I am up to it too. Have any of the members ever made one of these doors, or can explain the configuration of how the door folds back in a very uniform way. I would be very grateful for any help. maybe even a second hand door that I could alter to suit my doorway.
I have just this moment joined the forum. and this is my first thread.
Many Thanks Brerrabbit.

Re: pvc folding door

I tired of the head door swinging into the cabin. Removed it and installed a track and shower curtain. My wife found it a little odd at first, later asked if I would remove vee berth door. Which I did.

Re: pvc folding door

I have seen many such doors on the closets of RV's, it's likely you can just buy what you need.
You may call them Caravans, RV's is a US term I think.

Welcome aboard CF, brerrabitt, and I promise i won't throw you in the briar patch!

The camper/mobile home kind of store will probably do it for you, but also check the SailRite website: they may have instructions for making what you want.
