We are going to need at least one BIG power boat to throw up a wake.

How does a boat throw a wake when it will have to pass between boats with ropes attached to "the boat"?

You are doing a great thing-helping others can transform someone's life. People have problems sometimes and some are doing the best they can. This is a hand up not a hand out.

Best of Luck! Gloria
SailorG I had suggested 2 large bags on either side of the boat. Like a catamaran. It was a few pages back on this discussion.

Re: Pitch In And Help

What about FRS radios?

Land use of VHF is prohibited - but who is going to say anything on Wed. anyway, right.

If I can get my kid to find them I will have two (old ones).

I did what I could. I'm too far away to actually physically help, but I shot a Facebook hail out through my friends lid=st to donate food, water and gatorade for the folk trying to float the boat, and to pass it on if they couldn't help any other way. best I can do for now.

Re: Pitch In And Help

I just talked to Knothead. Him and Rocketman, along with a few volunteers, have removed about 2 tons of 'stuff' off the boat. That has helped them being able to put a sling around it, as well the tide action is now starting to move the keel.

That being said, they need more help. The volunteers have been working Sunday, yesterday, and most of today. They can certainly use more hands right now if any locals can come down, and tomorrow they will need all hands on deck.

Please spread the message locally if you are in the Tampa Bay area. Work starts at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning, with high tide at around noon.

You have been explicit on your take on the situation, we get that. Right now the task at hand is to move the boat.

Volunteers are needed. Can you help? It may stop this becoming a taxpayer issue, although of course, that is not guaranteed. But it may, and without the volunteer efforts of many locals, it WILL be a taxpayer issue.

No, not exactly. I have waffled.

But if you remember I told Knothead that I would help. I said it, so I will.

I'll see you at 0800. (barring traffic snarles - he snarles)

And I will have beer in my car.

Re: Pitch In And Help

I hope tomorrow capt. jays boat will be released from his unpleasant stay on the beach.

Saying this I hope I never get grounded on a US beach and will be depended on the help of US citizens. For me a reason to stay far away from the US.

Many parts of this discussion must be in the eyes of non US citizens extremely disgusting.

Not to condone this thread drift but, you should understand two important things.

Gulfport Florida is not representative of the rest of the country. We have thousands of miles of coastline connected to 32 different states (hundreds of cities).

And
Some of us are just as disgusted as you.
