Re: Perkins diesel needing more oil after a 4 hr cruise

Did you ever get an answer on what was causing your oil loss?
My 4.236 consumes about 1 l every 60 ish hours at 1650 rpm. No visible smoke except maybe on startup after sitting. Compression and oil pressure are good, starts easy and seems very smooth running. I do see some oiliness around the intake where the breather tube goes. I can see a little oiliness on the block around the head gasket and the rocker gasket and even the filler cap. I measured my crankcase pressure it’s 0.5 to 4 inches of water at idle up to 2000 rpm under load. I don’t think that’s too bad but as I said there is some oil in the blow by.
I was thinking about a closed crankcase ventilation system (a home made one….the commercial ones are too pricy)
