Hi
Can anyone tell me size of the nut/set screw holding on the crankshaft pulley

Hi Thanks for info. Can you clear is that across flats as need to by a socket ? I am in uk my boat is in Italy

Yes, it’s a flat top. Use a six point socket.
And seriously consider an impact wrench.

Thanks for help fortunately I only want to turn engine to set tappets and get no1 cylinder at TDC for refitting repaired injection pump You don’t know a cheaper way to turn engine do you? Sockets that size cost a fortune in uk

That socket will a good tool to have. It won’t be wasted money.

You'll probably need to figure out how to stop the crankshaft from moving while you loosen the nut. When I was installing a serpentine belt system on my 4-108, I spent half a day trying to pin it down so I could torque it sufficiently with no luck. Then, at the suggestion of the folks at Trans Atlantic Diesel, I went to home depot and bought 3/4 drive corded impact driver. Nut spun off immediately. Just use a torque wrench, not an impact driver, to tighten.
