Passengers and refueling

I assume it is probably not a polite practice to be taking passengers to the refueling dock, however, it will add a lot of time if I drop off passengers before refueling; is this just inevitable?

In Boston harbor there are apparently only 2 fuel docks, neither of which is close to my marina. So, the process I am facing to keep tanks full (to "avoid condensation") is:

(1) go to marina, tie up boat, and drop off passengers
(2) untie boat, go to fuel dock, refuel
(3) go back to marina and tie up again

Is this pretty much the pattern? I assume I can't keep fuel cans at the marina.

Congratulations on getting your new boat.

Refueling is part of Boating.

The more important question is:

Are your passengers guests paying for anything or are you charging them (an hourly fee, fuel reimbursement, etc.) and they are "paying passengers?"

It is a good practice to get passengers off the boat before refueling, but no reason they cant just step off the boat at most fuel docks (some do have limited space though).

Yep, define "passengers".

If they are friends/invited guests, no problem with them being on board (or on the fuel dock) when refuelling.

If they are paying passengers, fill up once before/after pickup/dropoff.

No harm letting a guest see their free ride cost you a couple hundred bucks, paying customers don't need to know.
