Painting aluminium

My Beneteau windows are losing their black coating (paint?). I have sanded one back to bare aluminium and want to know the best method for preparation of the surface and painting. Is it clean, etch, primer and then paint and is a brush okay or should one use a spray can?

Your frames were probably anodized, not painted.
Otherwise, you've pretty much got it. Spray is probably better than brush.
