Online Chandleries in Europe

Chandleries in the Nordic countries are extraordinarily expensive, so many sailors up here order their stuff from the German online chandler SVB (www.svb24.com).

I have used SVB a lot and have been generally pleased, but I have just discovered another which I had never heard of -- STF Europe in France (www.stfeurope.com).

I bought 100 meters of European made anchor chain, 12mm, G40, for only €1196 (plus shipping and VAT), which is remarkable -- that is less than I paid for my old chain 10 years ago, and that is despite the huge increases in steel prices over the last year. Shipping of this large pallet (nearly 400kg) to Denmark from France cost only €41.

By far the best price I found on anchor chain anywhere in Europe. Regalvanizing my old chain would not have been much cheaper.

But even more remarkable was the efficiency -- within two hours of putting the order through, it had already been shipped, and I received it two days later -- a 400kg pallet.

I just ordered something else from them, and it was shipped within the hour.

They seem to be trying to be the Amazon of online chandlers.

Dash me with amorous wet . . . . I can repay you."

Interesting. Thanks.

Never heard of them.

SVB and Orangemarine are my favorite waterholes [emoji846] so far.
Besides Accastillage Diffusion and UShip here in France.

Cooperatives de mer are also good when it comes to fishing gear..
