Re: On getting liked and getting along..,
Lol....it is pretty funny and telling that this thread changed amorphously from CF likeability to WIND!..
I think it is that dynamic which keeps me enjoying all the personalities.
Gord's demeanor and knowledge has made him my CF hero since I joined in 2007.
But like all of us, he has gone thru a few bumpy times, when CF lost its allure as he had to deal with the amped up sensitivities of others.
I have felt the same which usually signals to me that its time to take a break from posting.
One part of the evolution of CF that I don't like is that many misunderstandings are caused by (I believe)... a switch to mobile App use where typing language and preview use has deteriorated.
That is why I give most people the benefit of the doubt.....
unless they piss me off!

Re: On getting liked and getting along..,
yes, I was having similar reactions. I hadn't looked at this thread in a couple days. So I was somewhat surprised to check in and see that somehow AirX wind generators are being discussed under the heading of 'getting liked and getting along'.
At first I assumed it was the universal hatred for the owners of Air X wind generators in marinas and anchorages by those who desperately need sleep and can't get it because of the howling banshees on poles surrounding them.....

Yes, I've been to the Electrical Forum but Wind turbine reviews by sailers that actually own, use and repair them is not easy to find. I have searched and advanced searched on this site and numerous others looking for a site that gives REAL reviews. On the Web there are sites that review turbines but they're not applicable to our situation in all cases. Soooo, is there a site that posts current real time reviews for wind turbines for our application and can someone direct me there ?

I tend to agree with you SSgtPitt. Particularly when dealing with changing tech reading posts of even 18 months can be redundant. But not always.
I would think a product breakdown like a mini boaters amazon that has product reviews in more depth than say what you get on Amazon would be a possible new innovation. But who am I to suggest such thinks. I only joined last year.

Dunno, but the answer is that there is nothing in life more important than being liked and getting along with others. No, really.

I use to participate and post here quite often on topics of interest to me. The reason I no longer post here was due to the persnickety and overbearing rules of a moderator. Who complained I posted links in my posts usually to a post/photo on my blog. IMO they were germane and helpful to the conversations. I received many likes and no negatives on my posts. I cut back but, apparently it was not enough. The final straw was when the moderator informed me that I could not even have a link to my blog in my signature as others do. Really? So I sailed on and found other online harbors where things are not as onerous and digital freedom reigns. I now resume radio silence.

Was there a sex-change operation involved?

You'll find mbianca on Sailnet and possibly Sailing Anarchy. A few others have migrated to or been migrated to those sites. CF is by far the friendliest forum do to diligent moderating and stricter rules.

No more.
I am not going to be hurt by someone's post. If they listen or feel like they have the better way- more power to them.
I will still pick them up when they are treading water.
Please put me on ignore if you don't want to hear what I have to say.
But I'm going to say it anyway.- no matter what is PC, or the groupthink is.

Yeah, this thread's drifted. My fault. But I did get some good info and realized that Boatman has the coolest Avatar I've seen.
The Duogen seems to be the best but the Airstream ratings, costs and performance make it the clear winner. I also DID start another thread for wind turbine reviews and that's going pretty well.
On being liked and getting along....we spend more time with people we find interesting and their company is enjoyable. Circumstances change, we change and we move on.

WAIT A MINUTE! I liked that Newt fellow... I'm not so sure about this Beth. My world view is now askew and it's all CF's fault.

Re: On getting liked and getting along..,
couldn't agree with sv Winterlude more. even when Ann C. Poked fun at mt post, I felt honored. Like it made me one of the crowd. The truth is I could'nt fill a thimble with what I know about sailing. But by the grace of God I am going to learn. To that end I owe everyone a huge thanks and please keep those posts and opinions comming. Happy New Year to all.
