And sometimes it’s best to just roll up one’s trousers and go to bed.

Unfair! way easier for you than me! It's all downhill for you! Well, mostly downhill...But then you also have Cape Mendocino and the Oregon coast... hmmm, there might be a race there....
But will you have your engine done in 5 years?

yes the engine will be ready to go in in a week ( after it quits raining for a whole week straight )
no I would sail down and we would start together from your marina up to Frisco for dinner then back to your marina. Maybe we will wait till summer . Winter gives me one heck of an advantage

Sure, dinner in San Francisco... I'll meet you at Pier 39, I'll have time to stroll down there after I have had LUNCH at Fisherman's wharf! This will be a good trip for my boat, I've been wanting to wash off some of the bird droppings.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming!
Sorry for the thread drift, but this guy's really got me riled up!

Re: Non-Use of Report Post Button

Back at it, in my regular job. No more surgery for a while... minor surgery is ok, but these hardcore issues is not a love of mine. Power to all surgical teams and nurses everywhere..... I love you, we need you and blessings on you.... (even the tiny nurse from Malaga who decided my coffee was better than hers and and who shared it with me by drinking it all.) Your expertise and dexterity is amazing... I dont say this often, but you can 'share' my coffee anytime....

So.. Human nature is fascinating to me. I note, without exception, people who have laid complaints against the mods, you know who you are, have all been found in breach of the rules and infracted accordingly.

For some its a personal challenge to get their opinion in the open, promote their viewpoint above the restrictions of the rules and then complain bitterly about mod interference in their lives and beliefs.

Well, i have news for you. This is a PRIVATE FORUM in which courtesy and restraint is required to get along with the thousands of other guest members.

My experience with this forum, even prior to joining, is that the rules are fair and designed to promote a healthy exchange of experience and help to one another. Difficult to do cross culturally and with language differences. Again my experience with this forum is that certain individuals reach a point where they become a legend in their own minds and believe they are best of the best and decide to tackle the mods to promote their own thoughts and methodology.

Sadly there are also individuals who take a "screw you" attitude, "I will say what I want."

Part of the volunteer mods job, is to 'moderate'. In the end, we have to moderate between opposing factions, viewpoints, beliefs and concerns.

I have developed a singular attitude toward disputes and it has become the fairest for CF-in my opinion- and does not necessitate me taking sides, If a poster breaks the CF rules in stating their opinion, the post or poster is privately informed that their current methodology of positional stance is NOT NICE and needs to be altered in the presentation, then mostly the problem is resolved.

If it continues, then we moderate accordingly. Why is it fair? Because sometimes I personally agree with the posters viewpoint but he or she breaks a rule in the delivery and has offended others by not being nice.

We ask on a thread sometimes for a discussion to move on from a nasty point and some just go right ahead and ignore the request. This tells me that they dont care about anyones viewpoint but their own and the gentle nudge that its not welcome on CF. These posters scream the loudest when they receive infractions.

If you read the rules carefully, you will see where the mods duty lies. Be courteous and be civil and nearly any subject under the sun can be discussed here.

Its not hard to be respectful in discourse... its when a member breaks down and becomes belligerent that all the emotional responses start............ DONT DO IT! HIT THE BUTTON AND WE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT.

Think about it. Infractions are here to give chances to people who go over the edge.... We are given 3 chances to conform instead of just being removed...

That is nice and fair.

Hi Weavis,
.....just to clarify

A bad poster is given 3 chances to conform to the rules and then is removed??

Are those formal "warnings" as opposed to something like this

" I removed your post even though I tend to agree with you
because your language wasn't nice"

Is that a formal warning?

Ann.. No complaints here about judgements..
I've either over indulged in vino or.. posted a response aware of possible consequences but the satisfaction quotent exceeds the the possible strike that may follow.
Sometimes certain things just have to be said..
Keep up the good work..

That is a private warning to see if they comply with a request. Then is an official warning then 3 strikes. Once it becomes "official" it means the poster has done something not CF worthy...
addendum: although is a private warning, it is one from a discussion of the mods who feel that it might be enough to guide the poster, who either by ignorance of a rule or by being incited and the comment is NOT normal for them, we just say... straighten up good buddy...

Yes the Vino is a character changer...

I keep away from two vineyard products here in Seville.... they can unleash mayhem.
