New Social Cruisers App?

Hi Everyone,

A lot of cruisers offer different services to other cruiser like selling stuff, cooking, cleaning, engineering, repairing etc.

I was thinking to make a App where cruisers can check in at a harbor and list their services so others can see them.

I love to hear your thoughts and ideas about this.

What other community information do you want when you approach a harbor?

Facebook. Every area, and even most specific harbors have a group to join and share in.
A separate app is only as good as the number of users, which for a new app is zero. Facebook is best, because it has the most users. They are already very frequently used for asking about or sharing services.

Most harbors also have a VHF net where services are shared.

For those not doing FB, I'm not, Navily is popular in Europe and the Med.
Primarily anchor & harbour info, but also with a chat system.

Here on the European Atlantic coast there is also a very active Whatsapp group for Spain, Portugal and adjacent waters.

Don't mean to be a wet blanket, but need to consider the country regulations where you are providing your services, especially for money or payment in kind as there could be implied VAT or similar taxes, the taking away of work from local service providers etc etc. On a small scale no one will give a toss, but if it is of any scale then the IRS and immigration office of the country concerned may take a dim view of it and as a foreigner you unlikely have a leg to stand on.
