Re: New Sewing Group
Great idea! I'll join too! Been working in a local canvas shop for the past few months. Have recovered all the cushions on our boat, made a new duvet cover and made fitted sheets for the v-berth. Have made some wall pockets for storage that work well and am moving on to other projects including some hatch covers. I have a Sailrite machine and use a Consew machine at the shop. Learning how to make biminis and enclosures.

Re: New Sewing Group
I am so happy that this thread is organizing...very soon I am undertaking a cockpit awning for our 35'Alberg. This is a work in progress and I can use all the help I can get. Curtains, "V" berth , starboard and port benches are also on the immediate to do list...so thanks for the "thread" ( great pun here)...

Re: New Sewing Group
Seahag, I too am a donor, complete head to toe do what a want with it cause I'm done donor last two years I've asked my husband to just chop my broken brain off, he refused, flat out refused. You think you know someone
The canvas projects list are really shaping up. I am hobbled by my glitchy iPad so have a hard time posting pictures in the canvas group picture section. Would love to fill that album with pictures of canvas projects or even just something you saw on a boat you found interesting. I know for my husband and I, the hardest part is visualizing what we want.
BR Teddy, CJ, and Susanna- if there is anything you need, or are having issues posting, just let me know. Look forward to growing this into a helpful resource.
Thanks again everyone for your great contribution.

Re: New Sewing Group
More goodies on the sewing group threads. I'm dividing the discussion threads into groups. For example, all awning projects go on same "awning"thread. I try to divide each posters project, within that thread, with the sewing group avatar, this is to help distinguish one project from another.
So, when you see this:

a new project will follow.
Clear as mudd? go browse the sewing group projects, hopefully it will make sense.
Cheers,
Erika

Re: New Sewing Group
I'm already getting some ideas. Someday, I'd like to get new canvas on my boat, like new hatch covers, sail cover, dodger and maybe even get a whole boat cover. Right now, the fabric used is blue and I'm thinking to switch to something lighter like a tan or Sunbrella's Linen color to lighten things up. I like trying to do things myself.
Been looking at all the info/videos I can for the new Sailrite machines. They're pretty nice pieces of work. Considering the costs, I think I can wait for now.
I have other projects to keep me busy in the meantime.

Hey...I'm in. I have a Pfaff 230. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm a minus 5 as a sewer...
How do I sign up?

Re: New Sewing Group
I like my linen sunbrelle, doesn't heat up too much in the tropic sun, hides dirt rather well.
I can barely sew a button but hopefully that will change . Luckily I have my multi talented husband to fall back on.
Anyone ever heard of Samson Dacron ?

Re: New Sewing Group
I've been looking at Sailrite's Youtube page looking over their videos. There are many projects listed there and giving me so many ideas. My to-do list just exploded. lol

And
This is from ForSailByOwner, great use of space!
If you have any canvas related projects you would like to share, we set up a group to consolidate canvas ideas in the Sewing Group, so we can use it as a resource and helping hand for the novice . Come check it out.

Re: New Sewing Group
New boom tent finally completed and up .
The white bits on the underside are the protective patches to prevent chafing from the mainsheet and preventer and the velcro straps to secure it when it is rolled up on the boom. A batten helps it keep a good shape:
