Can I join without Coops finding out? He already thinks I'm a wuss. And while I use a Chinese Singer, I prefer Italian singers. Shoo be do be do...
That surgery may explain that wide streak of kindness you have Ericka. Mine went with the vasectomy.

Re: New Sewing Group
That was funny enough to make me screw up the piece of trim I was cutting.

Re: New Sewing Group
Count me in!
I had an upholstery shop for a few years, doing furniture, cars, boat covers, and I worked 2 yrs in an agricultural canvas shop. I still sew, and am actually thinking of starting a mobile canvas shop in a 5th wheel trailer, perusing the marinas and bringing the work to the boat, instead of vice versa.
My machine is a Consew 226R, waling foot, single needle with reverse. An old machine, but built like a Garand.

Re: New Sewing Group
Welcome all any and all canvas input is greatly appreciated!
Blue Crab- Returning back and posting on this forum has helped me break out of my shell a bit, my "brain glitches" can be a bit embarrassing but even the grumpy cynics here are kind to me... You all are good therapy.
Sorry for the thread drift! Canvas, we were talking about canvas.
Cheers,
Erika

Re: New Sewing Group
Great idea! My man does all the sewing, but he doesn't do forums. I'll try to get him to take a look and see if he's willing to participate. He's recovered his cushions, made dinghy chaps, a dinghy cover and added covered padding to the bit of mast that runs through the cabin. He's also done custom fitted sheets and repairs his own sails. He also repairs sewing machines. Nice guy to have around.

Re: New Sewing Group
Here is a list of some of the threads started on the Sewing Group forum. We have 14 members and counting
Curtains For The Boat
Sourcing Canvas and Hardware

Boom tent
Making Fitted Sheets For The VBerth

Re: New Sewing Group
Neat! I'll join! I want to learn how to make hatch covers. I have a Viking machine that I use for everything. I did make some cool mug covers and pockets for our dishes (Corelle). Also, I took some old towels and made pockets for the pots and pans, so they stay nice while under the stove.

Re: New Sewing Group
Thanks all for contributing to the sewing group, 20 members and some really great info.
Hatch covers sound great Angelfish2, I've seen them with reflectex sewn in to keep the heat out.
Cheers,
Erika

Re: New Sewing Group
I've got a few ideas to work on someday. Might look for a machine at some point too. Decided to go ahead and join the group too.

Re: New Sewing Group
Me in also. Have an old Singer machine my grandmother used to do magic with, kind of a flip-flop mount that can fit under a chart table . That if I ever get to go with the wind... Meanwhile, waiting to bring my first little boat home, I was looking into making a boom tent and other things.. Great idea!

Re: New Sewing Group
Id like to join. I would only be a barnacle because I don't even know how to thread a machine, but trying to learn.
Erica I didn't know about the surgery. Hope you're doing well. I donated my brain to science but sincerely hope they didn't give you mine!
