New sailor/cruiser advice?

Hello, I am completely new to sailing, other than sailing the catamarans my college offered us. I have recently been looking into the alternative lifestyle of cruising full time. Where would I look to find someone willing to take me on as a crew member in order to get some experience and give someone a hand. I am also open to general advice or tips from you all because I know you guys are much more experienced than me. Thank you for your time.

Ditto on welcome. There are several routes to becoming an active sailor/cruiser, and yes, they do depend on the resources (schools, DIY yards, clubs, protected sailing areas) that are available near you.

First, JJ, welcome to CF and to the community of sailors around the world.

Second, please fill out the details in your personal profile. This will help everyone to tailor answers to your specific situation.

Third, there are first posts similar to yours nearly every day here on CF. There have been hundreds of posts answering your (very reasonable) questions. Please take the time to read through a bunch of them. Then if you have more specific questions, post them and we will have a go at answering.

Jim
