My Favorite Nautical Terms...

I just wrote about my Top Ten Favorite Nautical Terms, including such gems as "baggywrinkle" and "dolphin striker".

What are your favorite nautical terms or phrases? Have any good nautical word history to share?

"Rope thingy"

Although I'm pretty sure it's not a technical term, I seem to hear it a lot from my "crew." pete

"Golden Rivet"

Was that just a British term, or did other Navy's have one hidden away somewhere. Be careful if you go looking for one.
