Re: Music
Waterproof USB chargeable speakers would be my nomination. The new generations can be linked together to create true stereo or party modes. We've got a couple of Wonderboom's onboard and rarely use the car stereo for music anymore.
For personal listening, a good pair of bluetooth headphones are the go, although the better ones $$$ in price.

Re: Music
Is it best to have music already downloaded on a device since data will be difficult?? Use a system like Spotify or Apple Music or iPod??

Re: Music
Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Wagner, Mertz, Dexter Gordon, Chet Baker, Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, Yamandu Costa, Pavel Steidl, Renee Thomas, Paco de Lucia, Roland Dyens, Thelonious Monk . . . more important than the stereo equipment. That's a great crossing! safe sailing . . .Rognvald

Metallica!
Listen for about 45 seconds then switch to any in Rognvald's list to really appreciate peace and good music.

I've got green tenor.......you can use these things in the shower ( if you so wish) no deleterious effect; should be perfect for ocean crossing.

Re: Music
100% agree with ReefMagnet. Go with rechargeable water-resistant Bluetooth speakers!
No wires to run, no holes to drill, a multitude of music sources, etc. Move speakers to foredeck, to separate cabins, different music in cabin vs. deck, or same music throughout boat. Plus, if my crew doesn't like my music...they can easily connect their device and we can listen to their tunes...as long as it's not country, gangster rap or opera.
I wrote a blog post about my decision to go this route and have zero regrets.
