Message In A Bottle: Litter?
After the recent thread about a message in a bottle, I asked my next daysailing crew, and 100% of them said a message in a bottle is litter.
So I ask for a poll: is a message in a bottle litter?
I'd close this thread to comments if I could, and just leave the poll open. I don't want to start another flame war, and I'm not interested in comments, I'm only interested in the results of the poll. Let your vote speak for you, without additional foaming at the mouth, on either side, please.

So you are not interested in a qualified and/or intelligent reply?

Re: Message In A Bottle: Litter?
For the purposes of the poll how is "liter" defined?

Re: Message In A Bottle: Litter?
Part of what made the message in a bottle in that prior thread seem more like litter was that she had thrown over 10 or 12 of them along the way. I think if it had only been one, the "litter side" would have reacted less strongly.
I know that's a sort of moral relativism, but there you have it. . . . One is okay, multiples become litter. Any way to add an option like that to your poll?

Re: Message In A Bottle: Litter?
I voted Yes as it is.
Doesn't mean I wouldn't do it!

Are the Dead Sea scrolls considered litter? Paper notes rolled up and left in a pristine cave!

Re: Message In A Bottle: Litter?
I voted yes. Let's try a different angle. Would throwing a bottle overboard without a message be littering? Legally and morally I would hope most would say yes? In the end they both have the same environmental impact.
