Re: Message found in a bottle in Nova Scotia

The same guy has found three bottles with notes in them.

Wonder what the odds of that are?

Re: Message found in a bottle in Nova Scotia

The note and money is removed by rolling them up tight to the diameter of a cigarette before pulling out.

The finder was cleaning the beach so likely a local spot were the tides and currents dump floatsam.

Maybe so, perhaps I'm just jaded from seeing so many lives lost to drugs and alcohol, some even dying from them.

By the sounds of it the old feller would have loved the last comment and hated the Thought Police and Political Correctness as much as most of my cruiser mates and myself.

Just remember he who dies with the most toys is still dead!!!

Please do not be offended by my response. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Long gone are the days that anyone checks a story.

That aside, we would be happy to put Mr. Dupuis in our liquor locker for as long as we are able to move his oxidized parts around the planet. A hand-off to another willing cruiser should be expected. Just like the famous traveling garden gnome.

I LOVE it! What a great idea! Each "custodian" would be sure to find an appropriate replacement when the time is right. I'd expect some sort of public updates on his travels would be in order.

What say all? Is this a project this group would want to take on?

Re: Message found in a bottle in Nova Scotia

Perhaps multiple bottles. I was the one (oldest male) selected to send my Aunt on her way. The ashes were actually sort of heavy and would have needed a 2 liter bottle as someone else suggested. Not sure a bottle full of ashes would have floated.

We didn't use a bottle(s), but did send her ashes out to sea. The funeral home had my Aunt packed in a plastic bag. We took her with us to Ocean City MD. As nobody wanted to do this by boat, it took a while to find a spot along the beach that didn't have people. I waded into the surf and tried dumping her out. Some of her ashes came out and the wind blew them all over me. Try as I might, I could not get all of her out of the bag.

Maybe it was divine intervention, but as I slowly walked farther out, a breaker hit me hard and when the water receded, I was soaked, but the ashes were gone and the bag was completely empty. Mission accomplished. I was still laughing about it when I returned to my family at the top of the dune path (my Mom was in a wheel chair). Of course they were all still crying, so I had to bite my lip to get the smile off my face. But into the Atlantic she went. She arrived in America by boat, it was fitting she return to the waters she once crossed.

Nicholson58, I think that's a fine idea!!! Not sure about splitting the chap up, but I really like the world cruise by varied vessels idea. I wonder if his bottle has gone on it's way yet.
