Suriname I know- definitely fourth world - the "beating heart of the jungle". Don't know Venezuela - can you get your email forwarded to a bar there? (Gonna guess there ARE bars there...)

Re: MarkJ Missing ?

Don't worry about it..... he's just gone walkabout.

It's an Aussie Aboriginal thing...
"...that refers primarily to "a short period of wandering bush life engaged in by an Australian aborigine as an occasional interruption of regular work"

and

"...To white employers, this urge to depart without notice (and reappear just as suddenly) was seen as something inherent in the aboriginal nature, but the reasons may be more mundane: workers who wanted or needed to attend a ceremony or visit relatives did not accept employers' control over such matters..."

By any chance is there a forum member or two who are in Venezuela to whom he owes a couple of beers?

The IOU's probably worth nothing, but I'll bid $2US for the autograph.

Considering there are currently 62,950 members on the CF member list and probably a multiple of that visiting CF without membership, I would presume that there are a few who are in Venezuela.
- - The waters along the north coast of Venezuela is known to be very hazardous due to young men hunting for an easy way to get money by attacking cruising boats. You can see the confirmed history at: VENEZISLANDS
and: VENEZMAINLAND
and other places like letters in: Caribbean Compass - Caribbean Yachting and Boating News Magazine

- - For a good idea of where he is check out: http://www.hotel-marina-venezuela.com/MARINA/CatI.htm
Medegral is a new, small marina/boatyard that is growing in popularity with cruisers. They have the funkiest looking travelift you have ever seen.
- - The place is especially popular with cruisers who like to do their own work and do not like the overpriced and less than stellar quality of work occasionally found in the more traditional places like Trinidad, etc.
