Looking for Walter and Claudia Plenk of Whirlwind XII

Hi,

My wife Jen and I cruised the S. Pacific from 1999 to 2005 on our 35' Hallberg Rassy Rasmus, Sojourner. We became friends with Walter and Claudia Plenk on their 105' sloop, Whirlwind XII in Palmerston, and cruised with them to Beveridge, Nuie and Tonga. We have lost touch with them and would like to catch up with them again.

Last time I saw them was in Fiji around 2003, and I know they went back and forth to NZ at least a half dozen times.

Does anyone know their whereabouts now?

No offense intended, it has been a long time since you've had contact with them, and one does wonder if there is something a little off about the request.

However, giving a fellow cruiser the benefit of the doubt, let me suggest a search of marinetraffic.com. Whirlwind most likely has an AIS transponder, and if it is on, it should show up there. It will take you some time to cover the whole world, but it might work for you.

Hi Ann,

No offense taken. There's nothing off about the request, just trying to get back in touch with old friends. Cruising friendships never die no matter how long we are out of touch. I'm not trying to find the physical location of Whirlwind since I believe they sold her - at least I saw an add a couple years ago when she was laying in NZ. I'm just trying to catch up with in general as friends.
