Lake Sylvia, Ft. Lauderdale

I'm new to boating...

have been to Lake Boca, Lake Ida....anyone hear of Lake Sylvia? (is it a Lake Boca type thing or more relaxing?)

is the boat ramp in front of the Cromwell East Condos (off 15th street) a good place to launch the boat? can you bbq? are there restrooms? (sorry for all the questions, gotta ask when you have kids)

thanks in advance!

Lake Sylvia is a favourite anchorage for cruisers heading to the Bahamas.

Anchored in Lake Sylvia. No restrooms, and the cops might ask you to move along although we haven't experienced that in the last couple of years. Also water skiing is allowed in Lake Sylvia so it might be a bit noisy on weekends.

they make you move? I'm just trying to find new spots where I can relax for a few hours swim around the boat and then go back home...

A few hours you should be ok. They claim there's a 24 hour anchoring rule there. Of course it's all against the statutes but they did hassle you there.

Lake Sylvia is a great place to anchor. Two other places in Lauderdale are south of Las Olas and up Middle River.

Where can you anchor south of Las Olas? The little cove is full of moorings. Always looking for good spots in Ft. Lauderdale.
