Kids In the Cruisers & Sailing Photo Gallery - Is It Just Me?

The constantly changing pictures on the Cruisers & Sailing Photo Gallery that heads up the forum's main page, the pictures with kids aboard always sucks me in to click and see more. Am I the only one that just has to click on pics with kids having fun in the cruising community?

Its amazing what kids of that age learn. and very quickly,
Whether its sailing, motor bikes, skiing, driving, whatever,

Have you ever seen a 4 year old on snow ski's, They are incredible, No fear,
And going like the clappers down Black runs,

They make adults look like crap.

I fully support kids and their parents for letting them do it,

The world did not advance because of people sitting on their clackers and doing nothing but condemning others for their forward thinking and getting out there and doing it, What ever it was,

I'm the youngest of 3 siblings, so the family always had to wait for me to be hold enough for any event. I started skiing with the family 55 years ago when I was four.

Damn, that is a mighty fine looking boat!

Yep, that's my niece. She was a natural in spite of living about as far away from the ocean in America as you can. In some ways she was more into it than my own daughter.

Yep, boating and kids definitely mix well.

Frank,

Thanks for posting the picture of your niece. Was she given a heading to stay on and could she see the compass from her vantage point?

Re: On the Cruisers & Sailing Photo Gallery, is it just me?

Yeah, she was steering by compass, but if I remember right (it has been over a year) I was showing her that it is easier on the eyes to get on course, then look up and steer to an object that is on the horizon. So, yeah, kinda by compass but also kinda "steer toward that bald spot on the mountain".

Good times, we had 5 kids and 5 adults on the boat at one time that week- kinda tight for a Bene 393! I slept in my sleeping bag in the cockpit under the stars to avoid the crowds. Haha!

I miss the PNW!

Frank,

Sounds like a good time was had by all, and that was a boat full of people. PNW is a great cruising area, and a bit further north, the "Yosemite" of coastal cruising.

Re: Kids In the Cruisers & Sailing Photo Gallery - Is It Just Me?

As the OP, I don't mind this thread drifting to the age progression pictures.

Yours truly, well over 50 years ago

Me, 45 years ago

Me, last year. Didn't age too gracefully did I?
