Re: Keel bolts size and threads

I trust you tried googling in general and searching here at CF. Attached is a Beneteau document. Likely very similar if not the same. Torque is as important as size and material.

Re: Keel bolts size and threads

Is it possible to measure the nut dimensions and also measure the thread spacing on another bolt on your keel? A good hardware store or online supplier should be able to supply them from that info.

And where are the former nuts you are replacing? If they rusted then probably all your keel attachments are suspect.
As mentioned above the torque on the bolts is important. I suggest you check the installation and torque of all keel nuts.

Re: Keel bolts size and threads

You need to talk to Jeanneau via the local Jeanneau agent quoting the hull number (on the starboard side near the toenail for my SO34.2). I did this recently and got the information back overnight.

Re: Keel bolts size and threads

Please remember that torque numbers are for solid bolts in good condition. If you have serious corrosion, the bolts will stretch or fail if you try to tighten them up to the original specifications.
Could you post some photos of the keel to hull joint on the outside and what the nuts look like inside.
Why are you tightening them up?

Re: Keel bolts size and threads

OK. Their keel bolts come in 13, 20, and 30 mm versions. A 13 mm bolt is kind of odd, and you have one of the larger boats, so dollars to doughnuts your keel bolts are 20x1.5 or 30x2.0 metric threads. Nuts are not expensive, and you're going a long way to a location where you might not find nuts that large readily, so get yourself a set of each and then try explaining to TSA or equivalent why they are in your luggage.

Good luck with it.

Thank you.
