I have to go with you in this one mate.
I see where you are coming from and especially having had grown up in a country where historically there has been violence. I don't think it's something most think through until it hits close to home but I am taking piracy at sea very seriously . My friend has just turned his boat around a few weeks ago up the coast of Africa - I can't understand how people play with this stuff but perhaps it's a thing of being unaware of what's really going down out there.

I see. You're just on this planet solely to be judged by everyone else.

Re: Jolly Roger, Pirates and Political Correctness

Hate to be a fence sitter, but I can see both points of view.....

How black & white, boring and drab would the world be without harmless fun! However, increasingly around the world, modern day piracy has scarred many innocent cruisers and if you know someone who has been robbed or murdered by these scum then your sensitivity is understandable.

On a lighter note, Pirate's Eyechart just made me crack up

Well, not solely... but if you choose to engage in recreational douchebaggery by flying a cheesy pirate flag, then yes, people are likely to judge you.
