Yeah, OK, I'll remind you both of these pithy little proverbs the next time you start a rant about somebody else.

Besides, you're taking all the fun out of this.

I ll bet Mark has been laid more that you mooks have, but regardless, the pirate thing is way over the top and should not be made a thing of glamor, there are people getting rich selling the charm of plunder to the children,,,am I the only one that wonders about this..well maybe they are bankers children,,,

Re: Jolly Roger, Pirates and Political Correctness

What would people say if a special showing of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were to be held to raise money for the victims of real-world piracy?

Re: Jolly Roger, Pirates and Political Correctness

I really hate to say this, but just about everytime I have been bothered by "Neighbors" in my own slice of paradise... its there, a Jolly Roger high up in the rigging. Its flapping drowned out by extremely loud music, obnoxious cell phone conversations and potentially lethal water stunts encouraged by a group chanting, "Go Go Go Go!".

Which came first, the group or the Flag? Well presumably the group that later purchased it in jest, at the dockside tourist outfitter right before launching. You know, next to the kites and above the inflatable orcas. The generalization still fits though, if I see that flag when coming in to drop the hook I coast an extra 100 yards and if I see it coming in while relaxing in the cockpit after a hard day, I call in a dinner reservation on 16.

I wish I could illustrate my hypothesis with video, or pictures, sadly I have none. I do recall however a video posted here months ago involving someone that dragged an entire mooring field during their entry. I can't find the link, but I am positive they had a Pirates Flag as well, because I audibly quipped to my significant other, "See! Told ya so!" while viewing it. A drop in an ocean in terms of evidence, but the feeling is just the same, its the burgee of Gonna Annoy You Yacht Club.

The smug is heavy I know, but I am passionate about my peeves. :P

My point is that you don't have an opinion of your own, your opinion consists of other people's opinion. You want to default on the position where people (not you) are likely to judge me rather than standing up on your own two feet in defense of your opinion. Therefore I do not value it at all, sheep.
