My
trimaran, WILDERNESS, a
Searunner 40, was the first West System
multihull finished in Los Angeles, in 1978. Few of us had any idea of the potential of this stuff, so we often asked the Gougeon brothers for
advice on what to do when something "strange", like blushing, occurred. They were always generous and thoughtful in their responses, always concerned with the
health and
safety aspects of this "new" technology, and eager to learn about our experiences. I still use and recommend West System, based on my experiences and successes with the product, and my appreciation for their sharing the
trade secrets that helped me in my new career as a
boatbuilder. Thank you, folks. And to Jan's
family, friends and coworkers, my deepest sympathies and respects. You got to spend part of your lives with one of the great ones.
