Surely, you wouldn't be implying he's full of *it*?

A pot full of fresh caught crab, and beer in the icebox.

Oh, and my wife bringing me one of those beers while I lounge in the hammock on the foredeck.

Bliss.

Being able to take a warm/hot shower and the water drains completely out of the shower pan!

Last night with my takeout Mexican from my luckily fantastic family-run place in the Beaches, this was attached to the bag:

Working on good eating habits against snacking
Enjoying my husband more than my duties
Relatives reconnecting during crisis
Sleeping in
Quiet times with God
Praying for many until I fall asleep
Reading my Bible for 30 mins (long overdue and interesting stories)
Maybe spring cleaning our liveaboard boat
Sneak in a sailing ride around the SF bay

Re: It's the little things...

A cup of Twinings Orange Pekoe tea, and an Arnotts Ginger Nut biscuit.

Or, possibly, when I find said teabags half price, on special, at my local supermarket. Woohoo!!

Then, for me, evey day is 'TP day' - and I strip the shelf bare (and ask for a 'raincheck' so I can fully restock my six-month-supply in the pantry).

It's OK. My family thinks I'm weird also.

Re: It's the little things...

The little things.....that actually may be big things if we did not have them,

* Most important , for me, is a good mate to share all aspects of life and adventure .

* Out melding with mother nature, be it sailing, the wind, the sea, and sighting land. And also the pleasant Kicking back in the cockpit after anchoring, mooring or in a slip with a glass or two of rum and Jimmy Buffet, Caribbean, or music of Australia or the South Pacific. Fond and happy memories .

* Included in the outdoors category is strolling along a beautiful and quiet beach, or hiking inland trails be it forests and valleys, or rain forests and waterfalls, and also sighting the animal life and other creatures. Ahh, fresh air and freedom.

* Living together as a team and sharing the daily duties, be it watch standing, or picking up moorings, or reefing down, or navigating. And not to be forgotten are the land duties and chores that keep a happy team happy.

* Also snugging in at rack time, with a book, and Erica there with me....and always a kiss good night.

* Both of us getting in our exercise , and staying healthy and fit, and supporting each other every day.

* always greeting and meeting new and interesting people .

Friendship is precious cargo.

* As to Charlie one niner, I do not sit in front of the TV 24/7 and be bombarded by the media. We just do the small stuff, which is actually important, and follow the regs published by the official authorities. Those are small little things, easily handled, and being thoughtful of others, as well as taking care of us at the same time.

* As to actual sailing or traveling, all that is on hold for us until life is going to be healthier and easy going.

Oh, and every evening before dinner, Erica and I sitting back, with a rum, and talking story.

However, sure is nice when, engines start, batteries charge, electronics work,
anchors hold, hatches don't leak, and the weather gods take mercy on us.

Re: It's the little things...

My granddaughters laughter. Her imaginative thoughts.

Smells from the kitchen as we all take turns creating culinary delights to share and care for all locked down in our household.

The quiet. So much less noise pollution. Not many planes flying overhead and not hearing the constant drone of wheels on the road from the nearest highway to me. I think the birds are communicating more, or perhaps I can just discern their calls better because the other noise isn't drowning out their songs? The frogs in the evenings as well.

So grateful that all in my house are handling frustrations as a team, non-violently and supportive. We're getting through this. My heart aches for those who are not so lucky.

A&D ointment and goldbond lotion for chapped hands from my paranoid hand washings.

Best for last, all of the workers most of us took for granted BC (Before Covid-19), Not only all the people working front line in the medical fields but also the grocery workers, my mail delivery driver, any person in personal service industries from hair cuts to passing a burger through a window to the people that collect and discard our trash. They all get greater respect from me now. I'm ashamed I didn't fully appreciate their value before this. But going forward I plan to show my appreciation more.

Chocolate!

Re: It's the little things...

I was in the car this morning and was thinking about this post. What makes me happy? Not just satisfied -- lots of things give me satisfaction. And not just pleasure -- pleasure is lovely too, but it's just not the same as happiness. Happiness is like hearing my son's giggle-laugh when I speak with him from 1500 miles away. It's like a stranger at a stoplight doing the Tomahawk Chop through his car window because he recognized my Alma Mater on my license plate. Then I listened to a podcast of a father in New Zealand who said people are hiding Tiddy Beers for the kids to find. Yes, Tiddy Beers.

I swear, I will always think of Tiddy Beers if I ever think a sad thought again.
