False. Methylated Spirits = Denatured alcohol.
Nothing to do with methamphetamines at all.

Re: It's the little things...

I made a list then started putting the most important on top. Instantly list was to one and not the little things. Changed to the most important thing = my wife.

Re: It's the little things...

I'm on the boat(on the hill) in St Augustine, getting ready to launch and got a forwarded package of boat parts from my daughter in TN. In addition to the parts, a picture of me holding two of my granddaughters, (one and three) and a colored picture of Maui. Doesn't get much better than that!

Re: It's the little things...

really interested to see folk's comments...thanks guys & gals

to clarify my thinking : the big things that make us happy are usually fairly obvious and consistent...our partners and that sort of thing

but i was struck recently how some little things can give enormous satisfaction / happiness which far outweighs their intrinsic value. for me it was when i finally saw our batteries back to 100%

outahere's pix are another example

just thinking...

cheers,

Re: It's the little things...

I think the biggest take on this COVID-19 experience is what was ignored or just taken for granted as a part of our happiness, is not so little anymore.

I am actually enjoying this forced lockdown on board Stargazer with Zaida, as we have lots of time to discuss the little things.

If you imagine hard enough, it is almost like being days at sea, where life shrinks down to sharing everything with your crew mate and life internally.

Spending time with the love of my life, she is making brownies this morning and the boat smells of chocolate! I am certainly the luckiest guy.

Home depot or such. methilated spirits. Lots cheaper and does the same job.

Re: It's the little things...

I just scanned the Google Fi site to see what they are doing for folks during this time. I saw that they moved the "throttle down point" on their unlimited plan from 22GB to 30GB. Yay, we can watch more movies while sitting in the USVIs.

Re: It's the little things...

We are anchored in the exumas right now. Beauty is all around us. But the little thing that made me smile was... from the trampoline I looked down and saw a 6ish foot nurse shark resting underneath us. I watched for about 10 minutes, and then a huge ray slowly swam in right beside it.
Having the time to see and appreciate nature is a little thing with huge rewards.

Re: It's the little things...

In the spring of 1969 I would never have dared to dream of being trapped for days with that girl on the front row in history class on a sailboat looking out at both the Miami skyline and a deserted sand beach island. Here we are fifty years later, knitting, reading books, and baking butterscotch cookies. While not the activities I would have imagined...

Dominica, nearest Home Depot is 1,500 miles.

But even in Newfoundland alcohol is VERY difficult to find. And even methylated spirits. I can find it in St. John’s, but that’s a 4 hour drive, 6 from the boat.

And apparently also hard to find some places in California. So much so that a rumor started it have been banned.
