As the year winds down, I got to thinking about the poor souls on their
boats over in St Barth. It always happens this time of year. These unfortunate sailors have to endure all sorts of privations...over-crowded quays and
anchorages,
anchoring SNAFUs, long lines at the caviar and champagne bars at their cocktail parties. There's a pecking order for med-mooring along the quay in Gustavia harbour, if you're 50 meters or more, you get the prime positions in the inner part. Shrimpy 40 meters or so are relegated to the outer
parts. Then come those who don't make the grade and have to
anchor out with the hoi poloi. Ah, the embarrassment!
Here's an
AIS view and a couple of the "In Crowd"
boats, m/v My Paraffin and s/v Hanuman. Don't you feel for them?
