Re: Indication of warming ocean

Here is a link to the explanation of what's happening. The gest: we're entering a super El Nino year.

Super El Nino Likely as Huge Warm Water Wave Hits West Coast, Extreme Marine Die Off Developing

Global warming is real, and we're along for the ride.

I wonder if the sea lions taste good, if BBQ'd over a bed of hickory coals....

Not to go around thumping the Bible but there are generations of people who have believed thusly:

Genesis 1, v26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

One definition of dominion from the time of the KJV is "stewardship" and that certainly fits our role on this little planet, which we have been sorely neglecting. Just my opinion, of course.

Only in the MSM, not the science.

A few climate scientists have now scanned through the research literature of the time. For 1965 to 1979, they found seven articles that predicted cooling, 44 that predicted warming and 20 that were neutral. The results are being published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.

Of course it is nothing new, but how does that prove that it is a result of global warming?

Re: Indication of warming ocean

Meltdown of ice in the Arctic is causing a lot of cold water to flow southerly. Its causing a slowdown of the north flowing Atlantic current and upsetting all other currents. Scientists up here are saying the "gulf stream" may slow A LOT and they are fearful of the resulting water temps all over the Atlantic. Its causing cooler water temps off the coast of Canada and the US and warmer water in south Atlantic - probably due to the flow speed dropping so less cooler water is being drawn south near west Africa.
Call it global warming or whatever but it IS happening. I have sailed in south Labrador waters and around NL - places that were completely frozen over in summer a few hundred years ago.

Re: Indication of warming ocean

It is smarter to do something about global warming and later proved to be wrong than not do anything and later proved to be wrong,

I am old enough to remember that debate. Given a choice between a few degrees of warming and another ice age and the glass house earth theory proponents claim that CO2 causes it the prudent amongst us would be burning all the hydrocarbons we could get our hands on to ensure the ice age never happened.

An opinion I would agree with. But, its not what you might call and 'orthodox' opinion as yet. Though it's building.

I find the 'church' is often behind many liberal plans including the extremes of capitalism. And when it comes to the verses you have quoted, the old guard prefer the meaning of 'to rule over'. I have sat through many a sermon, squirming in my seat, where the homily was all about the 'god given right to use all the earths resources as mankind feels his right'. And there is always imminent views of eschatology in their thinking. In other words, it won't matter as the old earth 'in our life times' will be done away and the new earth established'.
