In Stromboli, no wind, headed to Salerno tonight--suggestions please

Hello fellow cruisers,

My husband and three kids and myself are headed to the Amalfi coast area tonight---no wind for the past day or so here in Stromboli. We are interested in seeing Pompeii, Vesuvius, Amalfi coast and Napoli but are looking for a safe place to leave the boat to take day trips. Also, would love to visit Roma. Any suggestions as to marinas that are safe as far as security, deep draft compatible and not costing an arm and a leg? Is Roma area safe for boats? An suggestions as to railways to take to visit the different areas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We left the boat in Salerno to go to Pompeii for the day by bus. There was a little trouble with the local teenagers, but nothing serious.

But that was in 1982, so maybe things have changed a little......?

I am sure you will work it out! Just go and then ask the other yachties who are already there.
