It works for me.
Good grief Doc....here I was thinking it just from being tired after all that fun!

Vasco said in regard to Singlehanding that you " need" a partner to share experiences. If you are a single handler then you have learned to enjoy on your own, though if the right partner in the right frame of mind came along it could enhance the experience.

Re: Important things we don't talk about much

I'm not judgmental generally but over the many years I've been around cruising I have met a ton of single handers, they are a unique breed and don't tend to attract others to them. I guess this all makes sense as they tend to enjoy their own company much better than others.

I almost mentioned these on the thread about stuff on your boat you want to get rid of. I will give them another season.

Coffee, let me tell you l love my coffee. The other day we were visiting friends on their boat I was asked how many sugers and I said 2 the wife said no, he'll have one. I said I always have 2. She said not for the last couple of years. Who would have thunk.

Not sure if this fits, "Important but not much talked about", but how about Clothing?
More a question here than an answer...
On the boat. High tech fabrics? Hats?
How about 'shore clothes' or 'check-in' with officialdom clothes...guayaberra with slacks and leather shoes? A soccer jersey if you're anywhere but the USA...
Anything in the clothing category that anyone is compelled to speak to?

SNIP
Maybe I will have a single glass of champagne New Year's Eve but that is about the extent of my alcohol consumption. On the other hand I carry a couple of cases of Bud and probably $US100 worth of cheap rum or the like. Frequently a commercial fishing boat will pull up and ask if I want to trade for lobster, shrimp, or fish. While I do not smoke I also have a couple of cartons of cigarettes for the same purpose. Same for generic Neosporin ointment.

Trading goods are often more valuable than money once you get away from Walmarts.

Clothing fits the thread!! One of the only things I asked for for Christmas were some shorts/swim trunks that died quick.
