Terry Sparks shows you simple step-by-step procedures that anyone can follow to use Icom’s IC-M802 HF
SSB radio. Pictures and
charts help simplify the steps, so even if you cannot program a VCR or master your smart
phone, this course will make you an 802 pro.
Terry begins with an overview of the M802’s buttons and knobs that are used for common operations. Next, Terry discusses the most common operations required to listen to cruiser nets and make a call. Then Digital Selective Calling (DSC) is discussed in detail. Terry discusses using
DSC for position requests (find a friend), individual calls to contact friends as easy as making a telephone call, group calls, and
distress,
safety and
emergency calls. Terry shows you how to program MSI numbers into the M802’s memory, customizing it for your friends and cruising area.
Terry discusses how to optimize and error proof the
hardware installation to ensure the best operational results. Finally, Terry provides recommendations for cruisers to make sure the M802 is as simple as possible to operate.
With the M802 being re-introduced back into the U.S. market in the next few months, specifically for cruisers, there has never been a better time to learn how to get the most out of this iconic
marine SSB radio.
Part 1 will start at 8:00pm EDT on Tuesday and Part 2 will start at 8:00pm EDT on Wednesday.
