I wonder why social groups don't get ...

... more activity? Or am I just joining the groups with members who are off sailing?

After last week's gut churn fiasco which proved my restoration of my 76 O'day 27 I have been sailing in much more pleasant weather. Just trying to prove the Plastic Classics are still worth keeping going. Mission accomplished if unwittingly.

Maybe it's because it's like Dungeons and Dragons just to find the forum.

Hey, looks beautiful! And I thought I was the last one on the planet still hanking on headsails.
Maybe folks aren't aware of the social groups here?

Re: I wonder why social groups don't get ...

I've asked myself the same question; this thread prompted me to go look at one of the groups I belong to.

Surprise - there are some recent posts. Either they don't appear in the regular post feed or I haven't noticed them - if it's the former then that might explain lack of activity. Don't know about the rest of you, but I generally just skim "today's posts" and assume I have an idea what's going on.

Maybe I'll start checking my groups from time to time.

Okay, I exaggerated. One recent post; the rest date from 2012 or earlier.

Re: I wonder why social groups don't get ...

I joined a couple of those groups. I can check them on my computer but I usually use my phone. Even the link posted above only sends me to the main menu. Not the social groups
So not very user friendly, at least as that's my excuse

Re: I wonder why social groups don't get ...

I think the social groups don't have much action, except for the "single sailors" group.

The others I have checked in the past seemed dormant.

I have encouraged others to consider them, but aside from Single's and Mermaids, I don't know if any of the others have much activity. Maybe other members of the other groups will chime in now.

Ditto...and I belong to the singlehanders and mermaids groups. Actually, I had forgotten all about them until reading this post!

Perhaps, Don, it is because they do not really fill any need that is not addressed by the normal forums.

New here? Don't miss the social groups! You may find more info you need there, and new folks to meet.
